Offshore Trips

Offshore trips leave the dock from OBX Marina located at 708 Harbor Drive in the fishing village of Wanchese NC, 27981.  Departure times vary depending on the time of year, but usually range between 4:30am and 5:30am, with trips returning between 4:00pm and 5:00pm.  On the morning of the trip, Captain Krage will give you your fishing options based on what’s biting and the weather. The Fin Galley primarily trolls natural baits but also uses a a Green Stick “Tuna Stick ” when needed.  They also provide all the permits, license, bait, tackle and ice for your days trip.  Our tackle selection ranges from spinning tackle right on up to 130 lb. class rods and reels. This will enable your party for any type of fishing situation that occurs. The Fin Galley has on open bridge policy, so come on up and see things from the view of the Captain.

 

Inshore Trips

Inshore trips are offered three times a day. These trips are fished in the sound or in and around the inlet. We can guarantee calm water on these trips. Fishing in the sound consists of bottom fishing or trolling. Around the inlet, you will be trolling for blue fish and Spanish mackerel.

Departure times are 6:00am-10:00am, 10:30am-2:30pm, or 4:00pm-8:00pm.

 

Charter Size / Number of Anglers

The Fin Galley is licensed for up to 6 people. Anglers of all ages are welcome, but please consider the weather and sea conditions when bringing along small children.

  • A deposit is required to secure your trip.
    Payments are accepted by cash, travelers checks, Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

Refund Policy

Trips will only be cancelled by the Captain due to high winds and rough sea conditions. Refunds cannot be made in advance. Cancellations within three weeks prior to the trip will only be refunded at the Captain’s discretion.

Tipping The Mate

The mate depends on tips. Many people have asked “What is the appropriate tip for the mate?”. Generally, tip like you would in a restaurant, 15% of the charter fee. More or less depending on the service at your discretion.

What To Bring

Bring enough food and beverages to satisfy your hunger urges. Jackets (depending on the weather), sunglasses (polarized enhance your view), soft sole shoes, sunscreen, and cameras. Your catch will be kept in the insulated fish box aboard the boat. But you will need to bring coolers to take your catch home.During the summer months, fish cleaning services are readily available at the Marina.
